Will Mike pull the trigger, and shoot himself in the foot

You know the Canucks are on a roll when the media is abuzz about the number one problem keeping the Canucks away from their eternal quest for the Holy Grail… wait for it… “how do we fix the 4th line?”

Tanner “Scrabble” Glass has auditioned an endless parade of partners, with top draft pick Cody Hodson’s name currently pencilled in on his dance card. CoHo shouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to unpack his suitcase, as his limited time in the last two games suggests that he’s due to rejoin the Moose, anytime soon.

will Mike pull the trigger...

So what’s next… does Mike pull the trigger on Monday and bring in that elusive, perfect piece to the puzzle.  But at what cost?  a first or second round pick? a prospect? or heaven forbid, a trade – who does he give up?  And at what cost to the chemistry already in place? Gritty 4th liners have bad karma following them like a rotten smelling hockey bag  – trades can be a loaded bomb, ready to go off – be careful Mike!!

Maybe that puzzle piece is already there, buried and forgotten in its free fall from the 2nd line to the press box.   Jeff Tambellini has shown he can play at both ends of the ice – his +9  is fifth best on the team.  He can also put up the points. He’s does hit and you do have Scrabble Glass and Oreskovich to handle the greasy stuff.

Maybe Tambellini needs some motivation to earn a spot on this team… maybe they’ve just lit a fire under him to see how he responds… let’s see what happens Monday on Trade Day… maybe nothing at all, and that would be fine with me.
